COACH MARVIN LEWIS SAYS: “Shawn has great physical tools and has been a great leader on Georgia’s defense. He’s an aggressive, aggressive player. He had to do what they asked of him on defense, and their safeties mostly played ‘in the box’ at Georgia, but he’s got great speed and quickness in addition to being physical. He will compete for an opportunity to play (defense) and will for sure upgrade us on special teams.”

COLLEGE HIGHLIGHTS: Played four seasons (2009-12) at Georgia ... Played 13 or 14 games each season, and 27 of his 30 starts came in his last two campaigns ... Totaled 209 career tackles, including 170 over his last two seasons, and had 23 special teams stops ... Had four INTs, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. 2012—Ranked second on team with 98 tackles, helping lead Bulldogs to 12-2 season and Capital One Bowl victory over Nebraska ... On his 57 tackles against the running game, rushers averaged only 2.6 yards per carry ... Allowed only 16 completions in 62 passes into his area ... WILLIAMS ON WILLIAMS: “I do pride myself on being very physical. That’s the only way I know to play the game — hard and physical. I tried to put fear in the offense I went against. Make them have to account for me all the time. Make the wide receivers and running backs know they were going to get hit. Just try to make a big play.”

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Early County High School in Blakely, Ga., where he played S, WR and LB ... Earned first-team Class AA all-state honors as a senior from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, despite playing on a team that struggled and finished with a 1-9 record ... Lettered in basketball as a power forward and center.
